Redmond Awards and Recognitions
2010
Redmond Regional was awarded a three-year term of accreditation in breast ultrasound and ultrasound guided breast biopsy, as the result of a survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This meets all requirements for the Breast Center of Excellence Certification.
- Belinda Fleming, RN, CCRN-CSC, of Redmonds Intensive Care Unit received the Cardiovascular Surgery Certification (CSC), making her a part of a distinct group of nurses in the nation. Fewer than 500 RNs across the country hold this certification in the entire country and Fleming became one of the first Georgia RNs to receive it.
- Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the parent company of Redmond Regional Medical Center and Polk Medical Center was selected as one of Computerworlds top workplaces for information technology professionals. HCA rose to No. 42 on the publications top 100 list from a No. 56 ranking last year.
- Redmond Regional received the Georgia Coverdell Champion Hospitals of the Year Award for excellence in stroke care. Redmond earned this award in the medium hospital category of 101-350 beds.
- The Redmond Regional Medical Center diabetes self-management education program was awarded continued Recognition from the American Diabetes Association. This program offers high-quality education services to the patients it serves.
- HCA, the parent company of Redmond Regional of Rome and Polk Medical of Cedartown was included on the Ethisphere Institute list of the top most Ethical Companies in the World. This award highlights 100 organizations that lead the way in promoting ethical business standards.
- Polk Medical Center of Cedartown and Redmond Regional Medical Center of Rome were named to the Georgia Hospital Associations (GHA) Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) Quality Honor Roll. Polk Medical and Redmond Regional are two of only 14 hospitals in Georgia to be placed in the Chairmans category, the highest on the list.
- The Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) presented its prestigious Quality and Patient Safety Award to Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome for its project that reduced infection control risks through effective rounding. The project titled, Reducing Patients and Employees Environmental and Infection Control Risks through Effective Rounding, won third place in the Hospitals with 100 to 299 Beds Category.
- Redmond was presented with a Circle of Excellence Award, an honor given to hospitals that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to quality and patient safety as evidenced by not only winning a patient safety award in 2009, but also by earning three or more PHA Patient Safety Awards within the previous five years. These annual awards recognize Georgia health care organizations for achievement in reducing the risk of medical errors and improving patient safety and medical outcomes.
- Redmond Regional Medical Centers John Crowley, OTR/L, MBA, an Occupational Therapist and Clinical Coordinator at Redmond Outpatient Rehab, became a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).

- Out of over 4500 hospitals, Redmond Regional was recognized as one of the top 100 Best in Value hospitals, according to a list released by Data Advantage, fall of 2009.
- HCA, the parent company of Redmond Regional was recognized by InformationWeek as one of the Nations Most Innovative Users of Business Technology.
- Hospital Corporation of America, the parent company of Redmond was named to Computerworlds annual list of best places to work in Information Technology.
- Redmond Emergency Medical Services was named the 2009 EMS Service of the Year for the State of Georgia at the annual Georgia Association of Emergency Medical Services awards banquet. Redmond EMS was chosen from 15 other regional nominees within the state.
- The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) granted Three-Year Approval with Commendation to the Redmonds Cancer Program.
- Redmond Emergency Medical Services was named the 2009 Region 1 EMS Service of the Year by the Georgia Region 1 EMS Council.
- The Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) honored Redmond with the Patient Quality and Safety Award for Redmonds project Preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in the Intensive Care Unit, Category. The project won first place in the 100 to 299 beds category!

Redmond was recognized as one of 518 hospitals that have demonstrated their commitment to quality care for heart disease and stroke patients by earning a Get With The Guidelines Performance Achievement Award.
- Redmond ranked number one in patient satisfaction scores within HCA, Redmonds parent company, for first quarter, 2008. Over 150 HCA hospitals are included in this survey, which was conducted by The Gallup Organization.

- Redmond joined the GHA Quality Honor Roll due to excellent Appropriate Care Measures (ACM) rates.
- Redmonds Laboratory earned accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
- Congressman Phil Gingrey, M.D., presented Lisa Dempsey, Redmond Oncology RN, with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in honor of her commitment and dedication to nursing and her extraordinary work with cancer patients.
- Redmond Inpatient Rehabilitation department earned the 2008 Top Performer Award from the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSmr). Redmond ranked in the top decile- the 90th percentile or above.
- Lisa Dempsey, RN, Oncology Nurse at Redmond was named a national employee finalist of HCA's Frist Humanitarian Award for 2007.
- The Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) honored Redmond with the Patient Quality and Safety Award for Redmonds project Decreasing Door-to-Balloon Time for Patients Receiving PCI for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack). The project won first place in the 100 to 299 beds category.
- The Partnership for Health and Accountability (PHA) honored Redmond with the Patient Quality and Safety Award for Redmonds project aimed at preventing health care acquired infections. The project titled, Improving Healthcare Associated Infections: Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus won first place in the health systems category as well as a second place Josh Nahum Special Achievement Award for Infection Prevention and Control.
